According to His riches

“For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ … that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man” ( Eph. 3: 14, 16). Paul is praying that all believers, including you as long as you love the Lord and want to live for Him, are strengthened with might in the inner man by the Holy Spirit. This is given according to the Lord’s riches in glory.

This power works in our inner being and casts out bitterness and oppression. One is actually hewing cisterns that can hold no water, when emptiness, dissatisfaction and running after sins and illusions take hold of him. Come to the Lord, kneel before Him, worship Him that you might be strengthened by His might in your inner man; then anger, bitterness, and spiritual weakness will fade away.

Like Paul, let us seek to be strengthened by the Holy Spirit, not by the will power – which is very limited and weakened when the attack of the evil one intensifies.

“That you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy” (Col. 1: 10, 11) strengthened with all might according to your need; strength to endure hardship, discern deception, overcome failure and boredom.

“For the Law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.” (Rom.8: 2) Paul recognizes that in spite of being filled with the Holy Spirit, the flesh is still active and has its law, produces wrong inclinations, wrong thoughts, and hurtful words to others. For this, Paul says, “O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?” (Rom. 7: 24) The remedy is the power of the Holy Spirit as it is written in Romans 8:2. Rely on the Holy Spirit working in your life to protect you from backsliding. Seek the infilling of the Holy Spirit to live a victorious life .. able to claim, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Phil.4: 13). And to be like the eagle that soars high overcoming the law of gravity, always above, from glory to glory.

“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Phil 4: 19) We will experience the Lord’s supplying of all our needs when we care for others’ needs. It is worth noting that the Lord did not promise to supply our wants, but our real needs. Don’t be selfish, but a giver to others like the church in Philippi that cared about the needs of other churches in spite of their poverty.

Loving the Lord Jesus produces love for others, thinking about them, and their spiritual and physical needs. “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.” (Gal. 6: 10) The Lord will lead you in your giving and will perform miracles in satisfying all your needs.

Seek the glory of the Lord in your life and you will live a victorious, fulfilled life.

You will lack nothing and will enjoy the Father’s richness in glory.
