Homes Destined for Glory
“Then all the people departed, every man to his house; and David returned to bless his house” (1 Chronicles 16:43). David returned to his house, after this celebration, carrying a blessing from the Lord. Peace, contentment, and rest were some of the blessings that he brought along.
“And again He entered Capernaum after some days, and it was heard that He was in the house.” (Mark 2:1). Let us proclaim now that our homes will move into a new era; in which the Lord, not evil spirits, will dwell. They will be places of rest for us and for whoever joins us in them. Our houses will not be under curses as The Blood is sprinkled on the door posts proclaiming protection from the destroyer. In the Book of Exodus, families ate together a slain lamb inside their homes. In the same manner, we proclaim a unity brought by the Lord to our families. Our homes will be places for: reading God’s Word, listening to sermons, holding prayer meetings, and praising the Lord. They will be places of blessing for us as well as others.
“The house of the wicked will be overthrown, but the tent of the upright will flourish.” (Proverbs 14:11) Education and psychology cannot guarantee success in family life. But a tent , that is, a family which lacks everything but still has the Lord dwelling in it will still flourish, and be fruitful.
We should not be shaken because of our limited material resources. The only thing that should concern us is grieving the Holy Spirit. Even though our tent may be weak, it will still not be targeted by robbers, and people will also be blessed by the Lord’s presence in them. Neither will our days be consumed by sicknesses, confusion, fear, or disturbing news; nor will our homes be places for draining our energy and strength. Worry, fear , strife, sin, or immorality shall not dwell there, and the Lord’s voice will be heard in our homes.
“Do not lie in wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; do not plunder his resting place” (Proverbs 24:15). The believer can give this command against Satan because he is a lion in Jesus Christ; The Lion of Judah. We can also pray this verse for any of our brethren’s households if we discern that it is under satanic attack (separation or divorce … etc.).
There is a direct link between our attending spiritual meetings and experiencing blessings in our homes, like when “David returned to bless his house” (1 Chronicles 16:43). By faith, our households will be victorious. Also, by faith, we will prevent the presence of evil spirits that are the real but unseen cause of many problems in our homes. Spiritual discernment is vital to understanding and ending problems and divisions at home. We should never deal with Satan with the gentleness of a lamb, but roar like a ferocious lion when casting out snakes, scorpions, and frogs. Stand! Use your authority in casting out spirits of sickness, confusion, lust, and unbridled emotions.
The Lord’s blessing is more powerful than the curse; and Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world! Let us declare that our homes will be places for recharging our spiritual energy so as to serve others. “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity! … For there the Lord commanded the blessing—Life forevermore” (Psalm 133: 1, 3). The Lord regards each family as a single unit. Our homes will overflow with blessings and all Satan’s endeavors to make them places of strife and bareness will be not succeed.
In the Book of Judges, the Lord attained through several women (the weaker vessels) mighty accomplishments. You also have to believe that the Lord will use you to build your home, despite your limited abilities, just as He did through Deborah and Jael, the wife of Heber the kenite. “Most blessed among women is Jael, The wife of Heber the Kenite, Blessed is she among women in tents.” (Judges 5:24). The same chapter mentions a woman used by Satan; Sisera’s mother who wailed at the window. Let us declare our faith that this will be the same result when we face evil spirits. We will also sing like Deborah did, “ I, even I, will sing to the Lord;” (Judges 5:3); “The voice of rejoicing and salvation Is in the tents of the righteous;” (Psalm 118:15).
“And Jael went out to meet Sisera … Then Jael, Heber’s wife, took a tent peg … and drove the peg into his temple, and it went down into the ground; for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died” (Judges 4: 18-21). Sisera represents one of the rulers of the kingdom of darkness commanding nine hundred (900) iron chariots. He met his end in Jael’s tent when she used a tent peg driving it through his temple into the ground. (the tent peg is a symbol of the Lord Jesus who secures the tent in its place). Just as she hit Sisera and ended his power, we are able to put an end to Satan’s thoughts that dwell in our homes. “ She stretched her hand to the tent peg, Her right hand to the workmen’s hammer; She pounded Sisera, she pierced his head, …At her feet he sank, he fell, he lay still; At her feet he sank, he fell; Where he sank, there he fell dead” (Judges 5: 26-27). “Fell” is repeated three times, and his mother, who belongs to the kingdom of darkness, cried out in fear expecting a calamity. In the name of Jesus, our homes will have the same impact on the kingdom of darkness because the peg , Jesus Christ, reigns in our homes! We are more than conquerors! Our hearts are fixed and our homes are steadfast. Whenever the enemy attacks us with all that he can muster of strength, he will be defeated because of our faith in the blood of Jesus!
Thus, our homes will be a place where the Holy Spirit reveals to us the will of the Lord for our lives and exposes Satan’s schemes against us.
The Bible emphasized that Deborah and Jael are wives and mentions their husband’s names. Thus, highlighting the importance of the sound relationship between husbands and wives in standing against Satan’s activities in our homes.
We can be like Deborah who sat under the Palm tree: a victorious person, always above (Deut. 28:13), and more than a conqueror in Him who loved us. Let us declare, in faith, that all barriers that Satan erected in our homes will be demolished.
